SHOP NEWS They are a-changing, apparently. No-one who has seen a radio or listened to the newspaper over the last few weeks can doubt this. CESCO will also be changing with the times - keeping itself and you up to date with the best value in the imaging world. Watch our bulletins for specials and novelties to make your photography more fun and more profitable.
THE STAFF Just one big change here - our founder and governing director, Mr. Ron Frank, will be retiring from the photo trade in November. Over 40 years in the business and a string of innovations to his name - Mr. Frank will be pursuing the joys of grand fatherhood (This writer is soooo jealous…) but will always have a special place in CESCO. Well done, Ron! PS: If Ron's old friends would like to pop in and see him, he'll be in the shop many Saturday mornings.
NOW, MAITLAND. NOW'S YOUR TIME…. Said by a far more famous individual…, but well worth thinking about. Price increases have hit the photo trade - wholesalers are already flagging modest and not-so-modest price rises. Next year's lenses, cameras, and accessories will cost more. However much of the stock in CESCO is still at the current price - and in some cases that price is well below what replacement cost will be. If you have any unfulfilled desires - of the auto-focus, high shutter speed, etc kind - now is the time to gratify them. It will be a worthwhile investment in your kit and your future as the replacement costs rise. NOW is the time to get in quick. Remember we can also do lay-by.

GREAT BUY NOVEMBER We have a MAMIYA RB 67 kit staying with us for a short time. It is bound to be a short time because someone will realise that it is the bargain of the century and take it home. Imagine - 2 RB 67 bodies, 3 lenses and hoods, 6 backs, 2 finders and a fitted case for only $1800. This is a money-spinner outfit for a studio or a student. Great condition and plenty of versatility.
NEW LEICA Now THAT got your attention - if you are a Leica person already or want to join the exalted ranks….we have two new Leica models to tempt you. The C-Lux 3 has arrived and is gorgeous in glossy black. A true pocket camera with the added advantage of a range of case options. If your purse and tastes stretch to a little more, the new D-Lux 4 is for you. It has extensive options in format size, the true Leica lenses that have made the mark famous, and sophisticated flash options. Ask to see the cases as well.
30% TOPLESS ITALIAN MODELS I meant the discount on MANFROTTO DIGI and MODO tripods. Whatever were you thinking? Come in and try the DIGI 715, 718, and 728 for light and sturdy support of your digital camera. These metal tripods fold into remarkably small packages for hiking and travel. You can choose ball heads or multi-function pan and tilt heads. The MODO tripod is particularly good for small handy-cam videos. From $95 you can stop the shake and start to get the sharp image!
A NOBLE CAMERA We are honoured to have a noble camera in our shop - a NOBLEX 6/150 UX model in superb condition - really mint. It takes 120 films, curves it into a precise panorama, and produces extremely sharp horizontal images. Fully adjustable and fitted with accurate finder and levels, it is the answer to a landscape worker's prayer. Transparencies from this camera would scan or print to wall size with no problem - imagine your vision and artistry selling on gallery walls all around the world!
A PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION I part with my money reluctantly - I need to see a real advantage in buying new equipment for my studio. I saw it this week when the price on the TAMRAC CYBERPRO EXPRESS bags dropped to the bargain level. The EXPRESS and its smaller cousin the FLYER is the sort of equipment cases that convert from a shoulder bag to a hand bag to a rolling case. There is room enough for my entire wedding - shoot outfit in there. Two cameras, 3 lenses, giant flash (yes, I still use a Metz 45 CL-1) and two Quantum batteries. Plus cards, meter, cables and releases and an emergency chocolate bar. When I get a laptop there will be space for that. The whole lot snaps and claps together and would fit on the seat of any car. The wheels underneath are tough big roller-skate types that will negotiate stairs and sand pits. Do yourself a favour and belt on in to CESCO and get yours before they run…or roll…out.
THE BIG BOYS Come in to the shop and OOH and AHH over the two giant Nikon lenses in the premium cabinet. These are serious glass - both AF-s and both with the VR system to steady your images. The small big one is the 200mm f.2 Nikkor G and the big, big one is the 300mm f.2.8 Nikkor G. We now have in stock the big/small/medium 200-400mm Nikkor with VR! The front elements of these lenses are an inspiration - even the lens hoods are something special. Imagine what they would do at a sporting event or the air races….Remember that you can try them here at the shop or hire them for outside shooting.
NIKON DAY OUT Did you know about the NIKON workshop day at SANDALFORD WINERY and WHITEMAN PARK on the 23rd of November? And the Nikon technical expert that will be there conducting training? And the new equipment available to try? The great lunch? The wines? Well, give Saul or Howard a ring on 9328 4405 and ask to come along - it isn't dear and the day promises to be a Nikon photographers dream!
PRE - ORDERING NEW CAMERAS The world's a funny old place. CANON have a new camera coming - the 5D Mark II. And while CANON can't quite say how much it will be - the world's economic dance being what it is - CESCO has ordered quite a few of them for its customers. You can reserve one with a modest deposit and if it is as good as the forward publicity from Photokina 2008 promised, you will be rewarded with a superb instrument. Go-on…you know you want to. Also on a CANON theme - check out our new "L" series lens display - we love CANON and they love us - so you'll be seeing more new gear all the time.
NEW INKJET DISPLAY Now that we have new EPSON printers available - and a staff member who is a full bottle on their operation - we also have a wide range of the proper ink cartridges to fuel them. Plus…. The new HAHNEMUHLE papers in cut sheet and roll form to give you a wide range of choices for fine art printing. HAHNEMUHLE is the finest German quality and will provide a perfect finish for your best images. Remember that HAHNEMUHLE has certified archivability.
