Combining strength and lightness, the black Pelican 1615AirTP Wheeled Check-In Case with TrekPak Insert is watertight, crushproof, dustproof, and optimized for travel. For travel by air, Pelican has aggregated available airline rules for check-in dimensions with the goal of creating a case that conforms to their requirements. Of course there will always be exceptions, so it's wise to contact your carrier before departing.

Your 1615AirTP case is made of a super-light, proprietary HPX polymer with honeycomb structural elements that is up to 40% lighter than most other Pelican polymers. This confidence-inspiring design has been drop-tested on concrete on all sides and corners while loaded with gear. Not content to stop there; the case is also tested with a 28 lb steel dart dropped from a height of 3 feet, submerged for 30 minutes at a depth of 3.3 feet, and wheels are roll tested over 1,000 yards with loads at 5 mph.

Fully-featured, the case has ABS double-throw latches that accept a user-supplied padlock, a watertight o-ring gasket, an automatic purge valve, and stainless steel hasp protectors. Users will appreciate the new, stylish conic curve lid shape, rubber overmolded handles, and an extending trolley handle. Additionally, for easier case ID, there's an attractive, removable polycarbonate card holder that may be placed on the front or side of the case.

Besides being lighter, Pelican has also improved the divider system. The system is called TrekPak and uses pre-installed wall sections, divider panels, locking pins, and an easy-to-use cutting tool. Simply lay your gear in the case, measure and cut the divider sections, and lock them in place with the steel U-pins. Extra divider material is included for occasions where your equipment requirements vary. 7/16" thick divider sections are made of waterproof, closed cell foam that is laminated to a rigid, corrugated plastic panel that resists tearing and shredding. The TrekPak is combined with 1" bottom foam and lid foam to give your gear 360-degree protection.

A One Stop Carry All

By: on 28 March 2020
After about 6 months of comparing cases to carry my main set up in. I finally went with the Pelican Air 1615 w/Trek Pak Dividers. I went with the dividers so I could change the setup as time went on. I would only go with the Pick n Pluck foam if you knew that the cases purpose was to store a particular item and never change. Since a photographer’s gear is always evolving, the Trek Pak system is a great way to be able to redesign the case as time goes on. I also purchased some extra dividers and pins for extra customization. The dividers themselves are constructed of a corflute board. Corflute is light weight plastic with channels through the material. That is then sandwiched by dense foam. The tool to cut the dividers locks into these channels to create a clean, straight cut. For added padding and extra protection I purchased some diced foam 380x290x50mm from Clark Rubber and cut this to the size of some of the compartments I had created with the dividers, for extra protection. Overall Pelican do have a reputation for quality and it’s easy to see why. Every part of the case is built to last. As a Commercial Photographer, I need my gear to perform day in day out. Now, I finally have the case to transport it in. Massive shout out to Dave Walters for helping me with my purchase and as always great service from the team at Camera Electronic.
