That’s the name of the adhesive wrap that has been used to cover this Hasselblad X-series medium format camera.
The pattern is apparently “ Nordic Titanium “ and whoever put it on the camera seems to have known what they were doing - it is a very good job. Advertisements on the net show some 14 or 15 different patterns from one firm and there are dozens more from other makers.
A second web page from the Asian net shows wraps that can be attached to Hasselblad lenses. On both pages these kits of self-adhesive patterns are described as scratch protectors.
I can’t say if the idea would work for other cameras that have more in the way of organic curves to their casings, but the straight sides of the X Hasselblads seem to lend themselves to the idea.
The degree of skill required to clean the basic camera and then overlay it with the skins would be considerable - the sort of thing most of us would be more comfortable leaving in the hands of a camera technician. They are used to opening and closing rubber and leatherette covers on cameras anyway.
Good Idea? You decide. I think the look is fabulous, and wish it could be a factory option for a lot of gear. The protective aspect is debatable - the main reason is the style of the thing. If we accepted yellow C-series bodies we can certainly accept this. It might even persuade the photographer who uses it to dress up in better clothes - after all they would not like to let their camera down…
