Friends of Perry Lakes Photographic Competition

on October 03, 2023

Situated between Perry Lakes Estate, Oceanic Drive, Bold Park and Underwood Avenue, Perry Lakes Reserve in Floreat Western Australia is an iconic regional park with a rich history.  Within the 80-hectare reserve are two lakes, East Lake and West Lake, comprising approximately 12.6 hectares.   In its current form, the reserve dates from 1962 when the area was landscaped in association with the construction of Perry Lakes Stadium and associated sporting tracks and facilities for the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games. The sporting complex was demolished in 2011 to make way for a housing development.

This place has one photographic opportunity after the other, it's incredible.

Not so long ago their volunteers reached out to us with a Photo Competition idea.. And we, obviously got really excited.

Their Photo competition closed off this last weekend, it was a really hard decision, as we got so many strong entries, but we have managed to get to the bottom of it and give out some prizes!!!

Photographs entries of this amazing Photographic Competition will be in exhibition at the Floreat Forum, with 164 very high quality entries, the panel selected their 40 favourite photos to form a long list which was whittled down to 20 shortlisted photos. The shortlisted photos will be printed and displayed in a temporary gallery at the Floreat Forum from 12 of October until 26 of October 2023. Shoppers at the Forum will vote for their favourite to be awarded the 'People's Choice Award'. If you are around the area, swing past, have a look on their images and choose your favorite.

Support local business, local exhibitions and specially amazing non profit organizations  and their hard work volunteers, like Friends of the Perry Lake.
