Sustainability is our key driver

The ProTactic backpack series meets our sustainability promise, with up to 64% Green line fabrics used. We've achieved this by using recycled and solution dyed fabrics, which saves water and reduces GHG emissions. (Measured following the GRI 301-2 standard, as the percentage of the recycled yarn used, to the total yarn used by weight.) All these efforts reaffirm our commitment to reducing our negative environmental impact, whilst still making great camera bags!

Solution dyed fabrics, WHY?

Dope dyeing (also called solution or spun dyeing) is a production technique to color synthetic fibers such as acrylic, nylon and polyester. In dope dyeing, pigments are added to the liquid polymer solution before synthetic fibers are extruded.

Instead of the traditional wet yarn dyeing, in which the yarn is knitted or weaved first into a fabric, which is then dyed as a whole, dope dyed yarn is the opposite.

The traditional wet processing in the textile industry, has caused a significant impact on the environment and human health. Large amounts of chemicals and dyes are used in the wet processing, which leads to the larger water usage. Operations resulting in the generation of effluents with a complex chemical composition.

Using dope dyed fabrics reduces:

• Greenhouse gas emissions
• Water used (-80% less overall)
• Chemicals as the process becomes shorter and less wastewater is generated
