Zeiss 35mm f/2 Lens

The unique 35mm f/2 lens that appears in all RX1 cameras has been refined in the RX1R III, with the placement of each lens element controlled to the micron level. As with past RX1 cameras, a large Advanced Aspheric element near the sensor plane makes the lens design possible, while a floating focus design allows for near-macro close focus performance.

Leaf Shutter

Unique among Sony cameras, the RX1 series use a leaf-type mechanical shutter. Positioned near the lens aperture instead of the focal plane, this shutter prevents banding from flickering light sources, is near-silent, and allows flash sync at up to 1/4000 sec.
